Everything you need to know about using Frank Lingo.

Getting Started

How Frank Lingo works

Frank Lingo builds vocabulary through repetition across four channels — all coordinated around the same word list each month:

  1. Anki deck — sentences in your target language with audio. Import into Anki and review throughout the month.
  2. Weekly reading — every Monday, a short article in your target language with comprehension questions.
  3. Vocabulary quizzes — multiple-choice questions on your dashboard, drawn from your deck.
  4. SMS/WhatsApp tutor — daily conversation practice with gentle corrections.

You also get a monthly progress report with quiz accuracy, engagement insights, and a recommendation for next month.

What languages are supported?

Spanish, French, Japanese, German, Italian, Korean, Mandarin, Portuguese, Arabic, Russian, Hindi, Dutch, Swedish, Turkish, and Greek — all 15 at every CEFR level (A1–C2).

How do I get started?
  1. Sign up at franklingo.co — your 30-day free trial starts immediately.
  2. Complete onboarding: choose your language, level, and starting difficulty.
  3. Optionally set up the WhatsApp/SMS tutor.
  4. Your first Anki deck and content will be generated immediately.

Anki Deck

How do I import my deck?
  1. Download the .apkg file from the email or the Decks page.
  2. Open Anki → File → Import → select the .apkg file.
  3. On mobile: tap the + button → Import file.

Each month's deck merges into your existing collection — your review history is always preserved.

How many new cards should I study per day?

We recommend the setting shown in your deck email (typically 6–18 per day depending on your level). Study about 4 days per week — you don't need to open Anki every day.

How do I upload my review data?

If you use the Anki desktop plugin, reviews sync automatically. Otherwise, go to the Decks page, export your deck from Anki as .apkg, and upload it. This lets us see which words you're retaining so your next month's content adapts.

Tutor & Quizzes

How does the SMS/WhatsApp tutor work?

Each day at your chosen time, you receive a conversation prompt. Reply in your target language — you'll get gentle corrections and a follow-up question. Each session picks 2–3 items from your deck you've practiced less, weaves them into the conversation, and ends with a recap of which you used and which to revisit tomorrow. Sessions last 12 exchanges. On WhatsApp, you can also send voice messages.

Where are the quizzes?

Quizzes are on your dashboard. Click "Take today's quiz" to start. Questions are drawn from your current month's deck.

Account & Billing

How do I change my language or level?

Go to Account settings. Changes take effect when your next monthly deck is generated.

How does billing work?

Your 30-day free trial starts when you sign up. After that, it's $19/month or $150/year. Manage your subscription on the Billing page.
